A visit from our AMA

Our Area Medical Adviser got permission to come and visit us and it helped us so much.  This is the first time since I've been here and we really appreciate the help.

We started Monday morning as soon as they arrived, had a good lunch then we had missionaries lined up for checks on some more serious problems, then on to the local hospitals.  We were looking to find which were not only the best medical care in the area, but which would accommodate our missionaries and help us by charging the office so the missionaries don't have to carry so much cash (they get robbed easily).   Some hospitals were very helpful but others didn't want to bother or were so unclean and badly equipped we didn't want to use them.  Most of the hospitals did not want us to take pictures inside, so we didn't get too many inside pictures.

We took 10 minutes off to check out a couple of shops in San Luise.

By coincidence, we stayed in the same hotel as President & sister Avila and Elder Aidukitis who is a Seventy and in the Area Presidency.  They were traveling the mission for teaching conferences.

I just had to throw this in, it's Spring here and the jacaranda's are all blooming.

Our mission car, Elder Ostler driving, Elder Boisado on the phone, Elder Hollingsworth on his phone and I probably was on mine too.  Our phones rang constantly on the trip.  We discovered and interesting phenomenon,  the men in the car decided the car didn't run very well without stopping occasionally at an ice cream store to get some helado (ice cream).  It seemed to work well, we had no car trouble the entire trip.

This is the Elders apartment, the whole mission was told to clean their apartments because Elder Aidukitis was going to pick one or two to visit, so all the apartments were clean.  The doctor came to check Elder's Solanos' knee.

This is a public hospital in San Juan one of our Northern towns, and we were all shocked, all the public hospitals are really run down and old, badly kept and we never use them for our missionaries.  This was a big exception and was so big, clean, very updated equipment, and the employees were very helpful to us.  We will use this hospital.

As we left town, we are seeing more goats, so interesting to see them wild.
